• Missing Shingles

When high winds hit your roof, the impact is not equal across the entire area. • Flashing Damage

Flashings are strips of metal or other material that are placed around vulnerable parts of your roof including the chimney, skylights, and vents to keep water or moisture from entering the roof.  Because they are usually made from thin pieces of metal, flashings are incredibly vulnerable to strong winds and can easily be damaged or torn off completely.

 

• Gutter Damage

Gutters can be damaged during high wind speed weather events as the fasteners used to keep gutters in place can easily be ripped off.  High winds also carry debris that can be deposited into the gutter causing it to clog; this along with heavy rain can cause the guttering to sag and eventually pull entirely away from your home.

 

• Shingle Curling

Wind can damage your roof by catching under roofing shingles and causing them to lift and curl.  When strong winds roll across your roof, they can create suction and pull roofing tiles up damaging them and causing the roofing nails to come loose, this type of damage is hard to spot because from the ground the roofing tiles look fine.  When winds damage roofing tiles, they can also cause them to curl making them susceptible to being entirely torn from your roof as well as exposing the roof under the tile to water and moisture.  If you spot roofing tiles that are curling, they need to be fixed right away before any more damage can occur.

 

• Tornadoes

Jenks High School

Jenks High School is a secondary school located within Tulsa County in Jenks, Oklahoma, United States. It serves students from the town of Jenks and students from the south side of the city of Tulsa. The high school has over 2,800 students in grades 10–12, with the attached Freshman Academy the high school campus has over 3,600 students.


Jenks is known for its successful high school football program. The Trojans won the 3A state championship in 1979 followed by a 5A state championship in 1982. Since 1993, the Trojans have been a dominant force in the Oklahoma 6A high school football scene, winning championships in 1993, 1996–2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, and 2012–2015, for a total of 16 state championships. The 1997 team, which went 14–0 and outscored its opponents 535–118, is considered one of the greatest high school football teams in the history of Oklahoma. R. Perry Beaver served as head football coach from 1977 to 1991.

Jenks High School football has produced NFL players Rocky Calmus, Sean Mahan, Garrett Mills, Phillip Dillard, Jerry Wisne, Chase Beeler, and Steven Parker among others. The Jenks baseball program has produced MLB all-star Josh Johnson.

Since 1978, the year of the first state championship in any sport, the Trojan athletic and non-athletic programs have in total won 172 state championships in various OSSAA sponsored sports and non-athletic events, as well as state championships in non-OSSAA sports such as gymnastics, hockey, and rugby. This is, by far, the most championships produced by any school in the state of Oklahoma, in state history.

Former Bixby Teacher Accused Of Kissing Student, Facing Sexual Battery Charges

BIXBY, Oklahoma - A former Bixby High School teacher has been charged with sexual battery after an investigation into allegations she kissed an 18-year-old student.


Bixby Police started the investigation of Jill Arthur on January 7th, after the first report of the relationship. An unidentified witness told police Arthur said she and the student went to see a movie on December 26th, then kissed afterward.

Police interviewed the 18-year-old male student, who said the relationship started with the teacher giving the student her number and asking him out. The student confirmed the account of attending a movie and kissing in the car afterward.

Police say the student said there was no other physical contact.

Police say they interviewed Arthur, who admitted kissing the student for about 15 seconds and telling the student not to tell anyone. Police say she said there was no other physical contact with the student.

Arthur has been charged with sexual battery and was arrested Thursday. She has been released from jail on $2,000 bond.

Alexander Posey, a member of the Muscogee (Creek) nation, and his family settled in the area now known as Bixby in the late 1800s. He founded a community that was initially known as "Posey on Posey Creek," and included two saloons, a blacksmith shop and a general store. The town became a government town site with a post office in 1895. Located in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, Indian Territory, Bixby was named in honor of Tams Bixby, a chairman of the Dawes Commission. The original 80-acre (32 ha) town site plat was approved by the Dawes Commission in 1902. Many settlers were attracted to the area by the rich, though sometimes swampy river bottom land. In 1904 the Midland Valley Railroad laid tracks and built a depot about 1/2 mile north of the original town of Bixby. This created factions that briefly split Bixby into two towns. The new part of town was deliberately surveyed so that the new streets did not align with the existing ones. However, businesses in the original town soon moved to the new location and built permanent brick buildings there. Bixby incorporated as an independent, self-governing town in 1906, with a population of 400 and an area of 160 acres (0.25 sq mi). The first mayor, recorder and five aldermen were elected in February, 1907. In 1911, a two-story brick schoolhouse was built on Main Street. Bixby Central Elementary is now near the original site. A traffic bridge was built over the Arkansas River in 1911, and for a time was said to be the longest bridge west of the Mississippi River.

Jenks City

Jenks began in 1904 as a community site established by the Midland Valley Railroad between Tulsa and Muskogee, alongside the Arkansas River. Though the river could only be utilized by shallow draft steamboats while the water level was up, these two transportation routes proved vital to Jenks' early development.

Jenks was named after William Henry Jenks the owner and director of the Midland Valley Railroad. According to a 1957 article in the Tulsa Tribune, an agent for the townsite company was told by the railroad home office to name a town for the director.
 
The town was officially platted on July 15, 1905. Also in 1905, a major petroleum discovery was made, further bolstering the economy of the area. The "Glenn Pool" oil well and subsequent oil claims brought many business people to the general area. In 1906, many oil depots (also known as "tank farms") were constructed in Jenks. By the time of statehood, Jenks had 465 inhabitants.
